With the help of the local and national educational authorities, a strategy was formed for intervention in the field of formal education, as part of the 'City without Violence' program.
This strategy is based on creating a Safe Enviornment and a sense of protection among all those who attend the school; the return of authority to the educators; on aiding to set boundaries and enforce them; or running and steering the classroom; dealing with issues of accountability among the students; and providing feedback and reinforcement for proper behavior. As part of the 'City without Violence' program, Municipal Educational Directors are being recruited to attend courses and learn about the leading programs in this field, and to lead the programs' implementation with the help of the city's school principals.
All this is done with a systematic view and treatment of the overall aspects and issues related to coping with violence in the education system, and to performing intervention in each of the aspects with no exceptions, and to changing the "lifestyle" of the educational framework.
The program also deals with reinstating the educational and parental authority within the preschools, as part of the Ilanot program. This program focuses on training preschool teachers to react authoritatively and affectively, in real time, to all incidents of rudeness and violence; as well as providing short-term training for parents on the issues of setting boundaries and reacting effectively to violent incidents. The program also trains city's professionals to learn the method and work according to its principals.
'Ilanot B' or 'Ilanot Gvohim' ,as it is sometimes called, is a continuation of the Ilanot program designed for dealing with children in the elementry school.
